This portrait of a little Russian peasant girl playing with her doll inside the barn is a creation of D. Fomina. Brown tones oils help the artist to reproduce the interior of the barn and gold powder mixed into the oils is used to enhance the color palette.
The box is made out of high quality paper-mache. Black lacquer covers the exterior and red lacquer covers the interior of the box. The portrait is framed with a gold line; two gold parallel lines wrap around the box's sides. The lid is hinged from the left of the portrait and the box rests on a flat bottom. The work is signed with the artist's name and the title of "Valka" that is the name of the depicted girl.
