This interesting composition is a creation of talented Boris Shavirin of Fedoskino.
This box is painted on the traditional theme of peasant everyday life. A lad is playing the accordion and the girl is dancing to his accompaniment. It is a Christmas eve and peasants start to feel the festive atmosphere.
Blue tones of oil paints suitable for reproduction of a winter scene predominate here. Silver powder shines brightly through the oils to create brilliance of the characters' costumes. More brilliance comes from the lad's shirt painted over gold metal leaf inlay. The scene is painted inside the arch while the rest part of the box's lid is covered with charming patterns. Painted in various tones of blue oils, they imitate frost patterns on window glass. Similar pattern painted in blue oils is repeated on the box's sides. The edges of the lid are decorated with elegant gold ornaments.
The box is made out of paper-mache made. Black lacquer covers the exterior and red lacquer covers the interior of the box. The box has a hinge from the left of the composition and rests on a flat bottom. The work is signed with the artist's name, the year of 2011 and the village of Fedoskino.
