Tikhonova Tatiana from the village of Fedoskino is the author of this beautiful village landscape with cows. Using green, light blue and brown tones of oil paint the artist creates the impression of a wet spring day. The large puddle reflects the blue sky covered with white clouds and fresh greenery of the depicted trees. Sunlight reflection on the water is produced with the help of mother-of-pearl. Tikhonova is quite skillful here in creating a composition of subtle and quiet beauty, done in the traditions of the finest landscape painters.
The box is made out of paper-mache. Black lacquer covers the exterior and red lacquer covers the interior of the box. The edges of the lid and the box's sides are decorated with a simple wavy pattern. The lid is hinged from the top of the scene, and the box rests on a flat bottom. The work is signed with the artist's name, Fedoskino and the year of 2007.
