Sergey Kirsanov from the village of Fedoskino is known as a talented landscape painter. Being enchanted with the beauty of modest Russian nature, he created a series of works painted on this theme. These creations are penetrated the feeling of deep love to his native land with its ramshackle peasant houses, small wooden churches, boundless expanses of snow covered fields and evergreen forests.
The palette is filled with the tones that correspond to the depicted winter scene. The artist has used a mother-of-pearl inlay that shines through the ice of a river.
A nice gold frame wraps around the scene; the edges of the lid are decorated with a gold line. Two parallel gold lines can be found wrapping around the box's sides. The exterior is covered with black lacquer.
The box is constructed from paper-mache. A hinge is fastened to the top of the scene, and the box rests on a flat bottom. The work is signed with the artist's name.
