Sergey Kirsanov from the village of Fedoskino is known as a talented landscape painter. Being enchanted with the beauty of Russian nature in winter, he created a series of works painted on this theme. Each of them is perceptively and realistically painted showing a peculiar charm of Russian countryside. This work continues this series, and depicts winter Landscape. Gray and brown tones are predominated here for the reproduction of winter dull day. A piece of mother-of-pearl is set into the sky and make a shining through forest trees.
The scene is framed with a gold line. Two parallel gold lines has decorated the sides of the box. The box's bottom is covered with black lacquer; the interior is traditionally red.
The box is constructed from paper-mache. The box has a hinge from the top of the composition, and rests on a flat bottom. The composition is signed with the artist's name.
