The box's sides are decorated with a gold scan pattern (made of tiny shapes hand punched from gold metal sheets, and then glued to the box manually).
The box is made out of high quality paper-mache. Black lacquer covers the exterior and red lacquer covers the interior of the box. The lid isn't hinged and the box rests on four rounded legs. The box is signed with the artist's name, the village of Fedoskino, and the year of 2006 on the box's exterior bottom.
