This beautiful mountain landscape was painted by Sergey Parmeonov from Fedoskino. The grandiose panorama of a valley surrounded with the Altai Mountains opens up before the eyes of the viewer. The steep mountains are so high that it seems that they can touch the sky. Their summits are wrapped in clouds and almost invisible haze. The slightly sloping mountainsides and the valley are covered with green grass, tall slender firs and bushes. The composition is filled with fresh air and sunlight.
To reflect the beauty of wild nature Parmeonov uses a wide spectrum of colors dominated by different shades of green, brown, dirty white, grey and blue. The artist paints with an ultra-fine brush and his tiny, multi-colored brush strokes create luxuriant crowns of trees, firs, lush grass and mountains shooting towards the heavens. The leaves and foliage in the trees are painted by dabbing paint to blur and give the appearance that there are a great amount of leaves in the painted area. The depicted scene is as real as if you were look it at photograph.
The composition is framed with a gold line.
This box is made of paper-mache. The sides of the box are decorated with two parallel gold lines. Black lacquer is used to paint the exterior of the box while red lacquer completes the interior of the work. The box is hinged above the composition, and rests on a flat bottom. It is signed with the name of the artist.
