Alexander Mikheev of Fedoskino is one of the most talented artists in the village. His works run the fine lines of surrealism and classic realism. His works can be found in private collections all over the World.
The work is one of the earlist his works available (1998) and called "Night Flight", and shows landscape with a Russian Church and a bird flying from the forest. The painting is based on sharp contrasts. The trees are painted in dark deep green/brown tones; beautiful blending of white and silver tones is used to paint forest and the cupolas of the Church.
The bird is painted in gold.
The lid is framed with a golden line. Another gold line is decorating the sides of the box.
The box is constructed from paper-mache. Black lacquer is used to paint the exterior of the piece while dark red lacquer completes the interior of the work. The lid is hinged from the top of the composition, and the box rests on a platform. The work is signedand dated (1998) by the artist.
