Description: German Larishev is the author of this attractive box. Being the son of the famous Fedoskino artist, Gennady Larishev (who has passed us away), German inherited his father's talent and devotion to Fedoskino lacquered miniature art.
The box depicts a picturesque view of the St.Basil's Cathedral on the Red Square in Moscow. This gem of ancient Russian architecture was built by order of Ivan the Terrible in 1561 to commemorate to the victory over Kazan and Astrakhan Khanate.
Salute in the sky are painted over the gold metal powder and some little dots cut of metal foil.
The scene is framed with a band painted in gold.
Two parallel gold lines are used to frame the scene, and to decorate the box's sides.
The box is constructed from paper-mache. Black lacquer is used to paint the exterior of the box while red lacquer completes the interior of the work. A hinge is fastened to the top of the scene, and the box rests on the platform with eight wavy legs. The work is signed with the artist's name, Fedoskino, title "Moscow" and the year of 2015.
