This elegant piece has been created by the well-known Fedokino artist, Viktor Tretyakov. Viktor Tretyakov is a very experienced artist whose unique boxes are displayed in different catalogues on Russian lacquered art.
The box shows the scene of a meeting of two merchants.
The scene is painted in various tones of light grey and white oils and framed with a stylish tartan pattern. The edges of the lid are decorated with a thin gold lines.
The box is constructed from paper-mache. Black lacquer is used to paint the exterior of the box while red lacquer completes the interior of the work. The lid is hinged from the left of the scene, and the box rests on a flat bottom. The work is signed with the artist's name.
