Description: This alluring box is a creation of Taisiya Danchenko.
The work is called "Moscow", and shows a beautiful young lady wearing a mask. On the background we can see coupalas of the Old churches in Moscow downtown...
She wears fashionable masquerade clothes of the nineteenth century. Some elements of the lady's costume shine brightly being painted in gold and aluminum.
The scene is framed with a gold wavy line. Some elements of the clothes are three-dimensional. We can see the small glass balls inlayed in the surface.
On the box's reverse side the artist has painted Spasskaya Towel on the Red Square in Moscow.
The box is constructed from paper-mache. Brown lacquer mixed with gold powder is used to paint the exterior of the piece while red lacquer completes its interior.
The lid is hinged from the left of the scene, and the box rests on several bsmall half spheres, glued to the interior of the base. The work is signed with the artist's name and the title on the box's reverse side.
