This small box was painted by a talented Fedoskino artsist Sergey Parmeonov.
The scene depicts winter landscape in Russian country side. On the front we can see a small frozen river and several wooden village houses. Snow-covered trees, with delicate lace-like branches, rolling hills covered with thick snow create a harmonious image. The scene is painted mostly in white and gray-bluish tones, which in the best way possible can help to reproduce the atmosphere of a winter day. The palette is soft and cool, and you can almost feel the chilly air. The artist does a nice job creating the look of snow on the trees, and the reflection of the bank on the icy river. Mother-of-pearl creates the depth of the skies. A couple of birds are flying over the river.
The painting is framed with a gold line.Two parallel gold lines are decorating the sides of the box.
The exterior of the box is painted with black lacquer and the interior is painted with red lacquer. The lid is hinged from the top of the composition and the box rests on four feet. The box is signed with the artist's name.
