The work is called "By the River", and features the couple of white wild geese flying over the picturesque expanses of Russian countryside. A scene like this, real or on an artist's canvas, always has a calming effect on the viewer soul!
The scene is painted in different shades of green, brown and blue. There is infinite texture in the landscape. The structure of the trees is highly elaborate. Each and every leaf, detailed to perfection! There are two pieces of mother-of-pearl inlayed in the middle of composition- in the water of a river and in the skies.
The painting is framed with a golden line, as well as the sides are decorated with two parallel golden lines.
The box is constructed from paper-mache. Black lacquer is used to paint the exterior of the piece while red lacquer completes the interior of the box. A hinge is fastened to the top of the composition, and the box rests on a wavy platform with five legs. The work is signed and dated (2013) at the bottom of the composition.
