Description: Dmitriy Tipyakov, the son of well-known Fedoskino artist Tatyana Tipyakova, inherited his mother's artistic talent. Most of his works are easy to recognize and he is often chooses interesting themes for his creations. Dmitriy is enchanted with the beauty of night sky studded with myriads of shining stars and planets, and created a series of works on this theme. This is his another box from this series, but it is painted in monochromic style of white and gray colors.
The box depicts an astrologer, who is looking for the planets. The artist intentionally painted some of the planets bigger than we can see from the Earth. He did it to accentuate the real size of stars and planets, and also to express his philosophic idea that the Earth is one of the countless number planets that fill the boundless universe.
The composition is framed with a gold line; the box's sides are decorated with two parallel gold lines.
The box is constructed from paper-mache. Black lacquer is used to paint the exterior of the box while red lacquer completes the interior of the work. A hinge is fastened to the top of the composition, and the box rests on a wavy platform with eight legs. The work is signed with artist's name, title "The Parade of Planets" and 2008.
