Description: This unusual scene was painted by the talented Fedoskino artist painter Dmitriy Tipyakov. Dmitriy comes from the family of artists. His mother Tatiana is well-known Fedskino artist too.
The box depicts a fictional character of the novel "The Hobbit" by J. R. R. Tolkien. He is a dragon, and the main antagonist within the story. He is presented in the novel as a fire-spouting, winged dragon. He was invulnerable because his body was covered with diamond scales. On the right side of the box we can see a small figure of Hobbit.
A small piece of mother-of-pearl is placed right in the middle of the composition and the box, like in an eye.
The box is made out of paper-mache. Black lacquer covers the exterior and red lacquer covers the interior of the box.
The lid is hinged from the top of the scene, and the box rests flat. The work is signed with the artist's name, the title- Hobbit and the year of 2014.
