Description: The painting style of Dmitry Tipyakov is unique and recognizable. Dmitry inherited the talent of an artist from his mother, Tatyana Tipyakova, the talented Fedoskino landscape painter. He likes to paint his works on the theme of Russian history ("Ancient Russia"), to depict well-known architectural monuments ("St.Basil's Cathedral"); in his works he also likes to extol the beauty of Russian countryside ("Haymaking Time", "Russian Hunt"), and to ponder over the space theme ("New Words", "A New Land", "The Earth", etc.)
This work is called "Road to Church", and shows a Russian monk moving to a small wooden church built in the depths of the forest. In Russia a monk who lives in solitude, and can heal people and even predict forthcoming events is called starets that can be translated into English like "an old man" or wise man.
Various shades of greens are dominated here.
The scene is framed with a gold line; the box's sides are decorated with two parallel gold lines.
The box is constructed from paper-mache. Black lacquer is used to paint the exterior of the box while red lacquer completes the interior of the work. A hinge is fastened to the top of the scene, and the box rests on four legs. The work is signed with the artist's name, the title and the year of 2014.
