This charming box painted by Sergey Parmeonov from the village of Fedoskino depicts the beauty of Summer. The scene depicts a river and the surrounding landscape filled with trees and grass fields.
The landscape is lyrical and romantic. The trees are softly green, while the hills and fields are still covered with morning fog, so they are of gray and light blue colours. Two fisherman are in the boat, in the middle of the river, still paddling to the place of future fishing. The palette is soft and cool, and you can almost feel the humidity of air.
A piece of mother-of-pearl creates the depth of the sky and the brilliance of sun rays coming through dense gray clouds right in the middle of the scene.
The edges of the lid are framed with a gold line. Two parallel gold lines are decorated the base of the box.
The exterior of the box is painted with black lacquer and the interior is painted with red lacquer. The lid is hinged from the top of the composition and the box rests on a wavy platform with six legs. The box is signed with the artist's name.
