Description:

The attractive box was painted by the talented Fedoskino artist A. Andreev. The composition shows two young beautiful ladies taking a stroll. They are dressed in elegant attire and sumptuous hats adorned with black feathers, ribbons and multicolored flowers. The artist gives a contrast between the ladies by painting one of them dressed in the grey-bluish attire, and the other one in the red-pinkish attire. Splendid work is done by painting white, semitransparent collars and cuffs. The faces of ladies are drawn extremely realistically. Andreev must have spent a long time drawing the expressive eyes, the texture of silvery wigs, the porcelain skin and the bright red small sensual mouths. In the background the panorama of a green park filled with flowers, grass, trees and even several sculptures opens up before the viewer's eyes. A stunning example of Fedoskino portraiture at its finest.
The elegantly shaped box is constructed from paper-mache. The composition is framed with elegant gold patterns. The edges of the lid and the protruding rim of the box's base are adorned with beautiful gold floral patterns. White oil paints are used to paint the exterior of the box while red lacquer completes the interior of the work. The lid and the sides are additionally covered with light blue paint; these areas are also decorated with beautiful blue and white tartan patterns with tiny metal silver elements (scan). The box has a hinge from the top of the composition and rests on a wavy rim that forms six legs. It is signed with the artist's name, village and year (1998).
Note: This box has been made in the Art Workshop of Sergey Tyurin.
