Description:

This marvelous box was painted by the talented Fedoskino artist Fomichyov S.S. Fomichyov's art has been popular with collectors for its beauty and originality. This pretty work is a nice example of his miniature art.
The composition depicts an Angel, looking at the sinful Earth from the havens. She sees much grief and prays for all suffering people. Two white feathered wings behind her back and a bright yellow halo around her head accentuate her "God-chosen status. In the background the beautiful panorama of paradise garden opens up before the viewer's eyes.
The composition is beautifully painted. The Angel's skin has a very soft look, and it is so delicately painted it is difficult to see the brushstrokes. Her face is very pretty and drawn to perfection with extreme detail. Her robe is painstakingly rendered in minute detail, giving a look of airy delicacy. The background is neatly painted, with good details in the plants. The palette is based on beautiful combinations of contrast green, white, and yellow colors. An enchanting and exquisite piece.
The box is constructed from paper-mache. The composition is framed with elegant gold patterns. The edges of the lid and the protruding rim of the box's base are adorned with beautiful gold floral patterns. The sides of the box, as well as the edges of the lid are covered with green oil paints, and afterwards covered with glistening gold free designs. The base of the box is covered with gold paint, while the interior is traditionally red. The box has a hinge to the left of the composition and rests on a wavy rim that forms six legs.
Note: This box has been made in the Art Workshop of Sergey Tyurin.
