This unique piece of Russian lacquer artistry was created by the talented Vladimir Rogatov of Fedoskino. Vladimir comes from the family of the outstanding Fedoskino artists. Rogatov's dynasty has exerted influence on generations of Fedoskino artists, and made mach for popularization of Fedoskino lacquer miniature painting.
The box is made in the style of the Lukutin factory that is evident from the traditional for Fedoskino lacquer miniature theme of tea drinking and a special kind of ornamentation that imitates a tortoise-shell. Imitating the painting technique of old Fedoskino masters, Rogatov has managed to create a box that looks like a piece made a century ago. This work shows how modern Fedoskino artists try keep the art heritage of their forefathers.
