Description:

This attractive box has been painted by the talented Fedoskino artist Natalya Orlova. It shows the Golden Hair Girl who is a main heroine of some Western and Eastern folk fairy-tales. In these folk stories she is always depicted as the most beautiful girl in the world, and many men propose her marriage. But only the best of them is worth to be her husband. He will be the bravest, the handsomest and the cleverest one.
To paint such a romantic heroine, the artist has combined her own artistic fantasy with irreproachable painting technique. Her heroine is a girl who is perfect both spiritually and in outward appearance. Orlova has been able to paint the beautiful girl with blue wide-open eyes and thick golden hair who looks at the viewer with a tender smile, and no one can stop admire her. To strengthen the romantic atmosphere the artist depicts her heroine against the background of white beautiful blossoms and dark blue sky covered with bright stars.
Gold metal leaf is used to create brilliance of the girl's dress. Thick layer of gold paints is used to create radiance of the girl's hair, as well as to reproduce golden drapery that frame the scene. Aluminum paint is used to detail the girl's dress.
The exterior of the box is covered with original patterns. White, turquoise, blue, and pink patches painted against the light blue background form the incomparably beautiful united pattern. Two parallel, elegantly designed gold bands are used to decorate the sides of the box. The interior of the box is traditionally red.
The box is made out of paper-mache. The box has a hinge from the left of the composition, and rests on a flat bottom. The work is signed with the name of the artist, the title and the village of Fedoskino.
