Description:

This elegantly shaped box has been painted by Marina Khasanova from the village of Fedoskino. It features dwarfs gathering mushrooms and brushwood. Not far from them the boy sits on the stump, and blows soap bubbles. The dwarfs seem to be very surprised; they think that the boy is a magician, and the bubbles are magic.
Different shades of green suitable for depiction of forest setting dominate the scene. Gold paint is used to paint brushwood and twigs of the large oak depicted at the top of the composition.
The sides of the box and its external bottom are adorned with original patterns composed of emerald and silver spots scattered on the black lacquer surface. These patterns resemble the texture of malachite stone. The interior of the box is traditionally red.
The front and rear sides of the box are decorated with additional miniatures that depict forest mushrooms known as "fly-agarics" growing among fresh green grass and flowers.
The box is made out of paper-mache. The box has a hinge above the composition and rests on a wavy platform. The artist signed her name, the title ("Magic Bubbles"), the village name of Fedoskino and the year of 2005 of which the piece was finished at the bottom of the composition.
