This elegant Fedoskino box was painted by Irina Turbenyova. It features the lady who has just given birth to a child. She comes home from a doctor accompanied by her husband and friends. Blue tones that help to reproduce the atmosphere of an early foggy morning dominate here. This rather monotonous palette is enlivened by two pieces of mother-of-pearl and two pieces of gold metal leaf. Mother-of-pear is inlaid in the portion of the composition where the child is depicted, and also in the portion where the hat of the child's mother is drawn. Gold metal leaf details the kerchief of the girl painted on the left, the shirt of the gentleman painted behind her.
The scene is framed with a gold line. Two parallel gold lines decorate the sides of the box.
The box is constructed from paper-mache. Black lacquer is used to paint the exterior of the piece while red lacquer completes the interior of the work. A hinge is fastened to the left of the composition. The box rests on a flat bottom. It is signed by the artist at the bottom of the composition.
