Description:

This magnificent winter landscape was created by German Larishev from the village of Fedoskino. German Larishev is a son of the prominent lacquer miniature painter, Gennady Larishev.
It is getting dark. The sunset gleams with bright golden light. Gold rays fall dramatically on the white-stoned walls of the convent, and white deep snowdrifts. People walk slowly along the path that leads to the convent's entrance to have an evening prayer. People are dwarfed by the grandeur of the convent. The sunset gleam is achieved by means of gold metal powder and gold metal leaf. Gold metal powder also highlights the architecture and the snow in some places.
The edges of the lid, and the box's sides are decorated with two gold parallel lines.
The box is constructed from paper-mache. Black lacquer is used to paint the exterior of the work while red lacquer completes the interior of the box. The lid is hinged from the top of the composition. The box rests upon four legs. The work is signed and dated (2005) by the artist.
