Description: This splendid box featuring the picturesque views of St.-Petersburg has been created by Mikhalyova Anzhela from the village of Fedoskino. The marvels of 18th and 19th centuries architecture rises above the Niva River. The scene is painted in different shades of blue and gray. These tones correspond perfectly to the atmosphere of the city called "Russian Venice". The architecture, the sky and the rippled surface of the river are highlighted with brilliant aluminum powder. Mother-of-pearl is inlaid in the portion of the building located in the center to create a very beautiful visual effect.
The composition is framed with a gold ribbon cut out of gold metal foil. The exterior of the box is light gray; this light gray surface is covered with very thin and almost invisible light blue and silver veins. The interior of the box is traditionally red. The lid is hinged from the top, and rests on four rounded gold metal legs. By means of a special device the box is can be hermetically closed.
The box is constructed from paper-mache. It is signed by the artist in black oils at the bottom of the composition.
