Description: This box is a creation of Konstantin Danshin from the village of Fedoskino. Konstantin was born in the city of Dmitrov, in 1968. His father is a professional musician, a member of the State Symphonic Orchestra of Yu. Svetlanov. K. Danshin's father managed to inculcate in his son a taste for art. At the age of fourteen, he enrolled Konstantin in an art school. In 1983, Konstantin entered the Fedoskino Art School, where he studied under V.N. Frolov, N.G. Marchukov and V.D. Antonov. Now K. Danshin's works are exhibited in different museums in Russia and all over the world. Especially his works are popular in the USA, England and France.
Konstantin is fond of animals, especially cats. Quite often he depicts his cats on his miniatures, and this box isn't exception.
A wide band outlined with two parallel aluminum lines covers the rear side of the box, the lid and the front side of the box. This band is of light brown color dotted with multitude of blurry gold spots. The cat is also painted against this beautiful golden background. In middle of the rear side the artist has painted intricate gold and copper ornamentation set into the brown oval. The same decoration can be found in the middle of the box's lid.
The box is made out of paper-mache. Black lacquer covers the exterior and red lacquer covers the interior of the box. The lid is hinged from the top of the composition and the box sits flat The work is signed by the artist.
