Mikhail Shelukhin from the village of Fedoskino painted this attractive box. It shows two girls dressed in bright festive costumes. One of them looks at herself in the mirror; her self-satisfied face shows that she is proud of her female beauty. Another girl peeps out of her girlfriend's shoulder, and whispers the words of admiration.
The palette is filled with bold and bright tones. Oceanic blues are combined here with mellow red tones. Lustrous gold leaf intensifies and illuminates the ornaments that decorate the girls' costumes, their kokoshkiks and ribbons. Aluminum paint is used to highlight the kokoshnik of the girl painted on the right. Mother-of-pearl shines through the costume of the same girl.
The scene is framed with a wide red band outlined with thin white lines. The similar band can be found wrapping around the box's sides, and outlining the small platform on which the box rests.
The exterior of the box is a festival of color and decoration. Reds, oranges, pinks and yellows are mixed among one another to organize blurry spots. It is so called "dust resist pattern". The interior of the box is traditionally red.
The box is made out of paper-mache. The lid is hinged from the left of the composition and the box rests on a small platform. Signed with the name of the artist, the village of Fedoskino and the year of 2005 at the bottom of the composition.
