The talented Yuriy Butsynsky from the village of Fedoskino created this interesting work. It shows the Sea King driving in the carriage pulled by two white steeds, and appearing from the raging sea before people standing on board the ship.
The scene is painted in different shades of blue suitable for reproduction of a marine theme. Mother-of-pearl shines thought the costume of the Sea King, and also through the costumes of the couple painted in the nearest background. Gold paint is used to paint the crown of the Sea King. Aluminum powder highlights the sails of the ship. Aluminum paint is used to paint the harness of the steeds.
The exterior of the box is decorated with beautiful ornamentation painted in blue oils, metal gold and aluminum paints. The exterior of the box is covered with black lacquer; this black lacquer area is adorned with gray blurry spots. The interior of the box is traditionally red.
The box is made out of paper-mache. The lid is hinged from the left of the composition and the box rests on a small platform. Signed with the name of the artist, the village of Fedoskino, the title ("On the open sea") and the year of 2006 at the bottom of the scene.
