Description: This unique box gives the viewer an opportunity to imagine how the Moscow Kremlin looked in the middle ages. Here we can see the Spasskaya Tower surrounded with small cathedrals that don't exist nowadays.
The palette reflects the summer season depicted here. Mother-of-pearl shines through the walls of the Spasskaya Tower. Gold paint is used to highlight the domes and crosses of the cathedrals, the two-headed eagle at the top of the Spasskaya tower, and also to create light in the windows.
The sides of the box are decorated with intricate gold ornamentation.
The box is constructed from paper-mache. Black lacquer is used to paint the exterior of the piece while red lacquer completes the interior of the box. The lid is hinged from the left side of the composition, and the box rests on a flat bottom. The work is signed with the artist's name (A. Vlasov), the year of 2005 and the village of Fedoskino in dark red oil paints at the bottom of the scene.
