This box has been painted by Sergey Fomichyov whose boxes are notable for rich ornamentation and artistic beauty. The box features the girl dressed in the traditional Russian costume. The girl's dress, her kokoshnik and veil are painted over a gold metal leaf to accentuate luxuriance the material. The portrait is drawn over the beautiful dark crimson background, and framed with intricate gold and aluminum ornamentation. Another gold and aluminum pattern decorates the lid's edges. For additional decoration the space between the pattern that decorates the lid's edges and the ornamentation that frames the portrait is sprinkled with gold and silver metal dust over the crimson background. The same original ornamentation can be found on the box's sides. The bottom border of the box is adorned with a gold pattern completed with silver dots.
The box is made out of paper-mache. Red lacquer covers the interior of the box and black lacquer is used to paint the exterior. The box has a hinge from the top of the composition and rests on legs. The box is signed with the artist's name.
