Title: Moonlight evening
Artist: Chirkov Alexander
Size: 12x9x2.5
Size (inches): 4.75x3.5x1
Price : $850 SOLD!

This magnificent box has been painted by the talented Fedoskino artist A. Chirkov. At first sight the viewer feels the hand of a great artist. Here he managed to reproduce the beautiful moment in nature when the full moon floods the ground with its cold bright light, and it is possible to see all objects in the darkness of a night.
Unfortunately your monitors can't reproduce the real beauty of this box, and catch the gradation of various tones. Mother-of-pearl inlaid in the portion of the moon creates the bright source of light. Another piece of mother-of-pearl shines through the branches of the tree depicted in the foreground. The illumined areas including the trees, the water, and the path that disappears behind the horizon are highlighted with aluminum paints. Aluminum and gold paints are used to detail the plants painted in the foreground. The rest part of the composition is painted in blue oils.
The scene is framed with a gold line accompanied by a multitude of gold dots.
The box is constructed from paper-mache. Black lacquer is used to paint the exterior of the piece while red lacquer completes the interior of the box. A hinge has been fastened to the left of the composition, and the box rests upon a flat bottom. The artist wrote his name, the title ("Moonlit Night") and the village of Fedoskino along the bottom of the composition in black paint.
