This is a creation of Mikhalyova from the village of Fedoskino. The magical beauty of Russian countryside has been beautifully captured in this exquisite miniature. A small fisherman's boat is moored to the picturesque riverbank, and on the opposite side of the river the white-stone medieval cathedral rises above mirror-like surface of the river.
The entire scene is painted on a piece of mother-of-pearl that shines with the fire and iridescence of Australian Opal. The trees painted in the foreground shimmer brightly as they are drawn in radiant gold paints. Some other trees and plants are also highlighted with gold paints.
The scene is framed with a wide gold line. The box's exterior except its bottom is covered with blue paint; this blue area is decorated with a multitude of tiny gold veins. The box's bottom is covered with dark blue paint mixed with gold powder. Its interior is covered with the light blue velvety material.
The box is constructed from paper-mache. A hinge is fastened to the top of the composition. The box can be locked by means of a gold metal needle. The box rests on four small rounded gold metal legs. It is signed and dated (2006) by the artist at the bottom of the scene.
