Description:

This small attractive box is a creation of the famous Fedoskino artist Sergey Kozlov. Precise craftsmanship and masterful design dictate Kozlov's masterful creativity. The artist was nominated to join the Artist Union of USSR in 1983. For a valuable contribution to the art of Fedoskino lacquered miniature, he was given the State Repin Prize of RSFSR.
The box features the Princess Frog in her animal form. Next to her there is an arrow. It has been the tsar's order given to his sons to launch arrows at different direction in the quest for their brides. The arrow of Ivan Tsarevich has landed in the swamp near a frog. So Ivan is destined to marry the frog, but he doesn't know that this frog is the bewitched Princess.
Mother-of-pearl shines through the frog's body. Gold paint is used to detail her skin, the water-lily and also to draw the arrow. The painting extends on the box's sides where the artist continues to paint the swamp.
The box rests on a flat bottom that is covered with bright gold paint. Its interior is traditionally red. The lid is hinged from the top of the scene. The work is signed and dated (2006) by the artist.
