Description: This museum quality box was created by the talented Natalya Orlova of Fedoskino. Breathtaking artistry announces this animated perfection. A piece that will intrigue and entertain for many years to come.
The work is called "Night", and features the Queen of Night and the owl, her favorite servant. With each her step, it becomes darker and darker in the forest. Her reign will last till the dawn when the first sun rays paint the sky with faint pink tones.
The lid features the figure of the Queen of Night and the owl, while on the box's sides the artist continues to paint the forest night landscape filled with the branches of firs and the stars. Various shades of blue dominate here. Aluminum paint is used to highlight some of the fir branches. The cord on which the owl sits is formed by several pearl beads and also by many gold metal tiny beads. Silver dust is spread throughout the composition both on the lid and the sides.
Elegant gold ornamentation outlined with light blue oils wrap around the bottom part of the box's sides. The base is covered with light blue blurry spots scattered against the dark blue background. The interior is traditionally red. Four pearl beads painted over with blue oils, glued to the base and framed with tiny gold metal beads, serve like the legs for the box.
In the center of the lid's interior there is a small oval piece of mother-of-pearl on which the artist has painted her name, the village of Fedoskino, the year of 2006, and the title. This piece of mother-of-pearl is framed with original gold ornamentation. Nearby Orlova has painted a fir branch using blue oils and aluminum paints.
The box is originally shaped, and can be put on the tray (or accompanying base). The surface of this tray is covered with dark and light blue blurry spots, and decorated with silver fir branches and gold lines. In the center of the tray the artist again has written her name, the village of Fedoskino, the year of 2006, and the title. Near this inscription the silver fir branch is painted.
