The skillful painting technique produces the woman's vividly realistic complexion. Gold metal leaf shines through the ribbons plaited into her hair. Her sarafan, necklace, the cage and the bird shine with bright gold and silver paints.
The portrait is framed with a wide gold line. This gold line is encircled with the line painted in light mustard oils; and the light mustard line is encircled with another wide gold line. The wide gold line can be also found wrapping around the box's sides.
The box's exterior is covered with gold powder. Its interior is covered with the beige velvety material.
