This small Fedoskino box has been painted by Galina Abramova who has a talent to create strikingly beautiful works. Its whole surface (except its exterior bottom and interior) is covered with colorful painting.
The front side of the box's body depicts the Forest Spirit who is according to various folk beliefs is the keeper of forest and all its inhabitants. The Forest Spirit is painted over the arch-shaped, thin plate cut out of a piece of mother-of-pearl and glued to the box's body. The scene featuring the Forest Spirit is extended on the left and right sides of the box's body where Abramova continues to paint the forest landscape and some animals and birds.
The rear side of the box's body and the box's lid that are free from painting, are covered with white paint and decorated with beautiful gold interlaced patterns. In the middle of the rear side, the artist depicted a mystical animal that has the body of a lion, and the head of a bird. This animal is painted over a piece of mother-of-pearl.
The box's exterior bottom imitates the coloring of grey marble; its interior is traditionally covered with red lacquer. The lid is hinged. A small piece of mother-of-pearl is glued to the lid's interior, and within this piece Abramova has written her name, Fedoskino, and the year of 2003.
