Description: This is another peaceful winter landscape painted by Sergey Kirsanov. It shows a peasant driving in the sledge pulled by a horse. He drives along the desolate village street as it is frosty outdoors. Painted in the realistic style, this work splendidly reproduces atmosphere of a Russian village.
White and blue-gray tones suitable for depiction of a winter scene dominate here. Mother-of-pearl is set into the sky to create a golden glow of the sunset.
The scene is framed with a gold line. Another gold line wraps around the bottom part of the box's body.
The box's exterior is covered with black lacquer; to make the box look more appealing the black lacquered exterior is studded with tiny and very thin blue-silvery veins. The interior is traditionally red.
The box is constructed out of paper-mache. It has a hinge from the top of the scene, and rests on legs. Signed with the artist's name and the village of Fedoskino.
