Description: This marvelous box has been made by the prominent Fedoskino artist Sergey Rogatov. Each of his work is a true work of art, worthy of being exhibited in a museum.
Here Rogatov has depicted Alexander Pushkin and two elegant ladies strolling along the embankment of Neva River. May be at this moment the poet recites these ladies his genius poetry. At the background, on the opposite bank of the river we can see some famous buildings of St. Petersburg including the Stock Exchange and the Rostral Columns.
The scene (except the characters) is painted in different shades of blue and gray. These tones correspond perfectly for depiction of the city called "Russian Venice". Mother-of-pearl shines through the buildings painted in the center of the scene (behind the characters), while another buildings are painted over lustrous silver powder.
The scene is framed with a gold line. The box's sides are decorated with the elegant pattern formed by scrolls, leafs, and beads.
The box is constructed out of paper-mache. Black lacquer covers the exterior and red lacquer covers the interior of the box. The box has a hinge above the scene, and rests on a flat bottom. Signed with the artist's name, Fedoskino, and the year of 2006.
