The originally crafted works of the talented Fedoskino artist, Vladislav Maslov, always look festive and ornate as they are usually decorated with shining mother-of-pearl and gold metal leaf inlays, three-dimensional elements, and covered with metal powders of various shades and tones.
This gorgeous oval box is called "Fisherman", and features the moment when a funny fisherman has caught a fish. The scene is painted in various shades of green oils; the huge pike depicted behind the fisherman is highlighted with silver powder.
The box's exterior is covered with dark green oils mixed with gold metal powder. It is also decorated with three-dimensional shells made out of mother-of-pearl; four of them have been used as original legs the box rests on. The exterior is also adorned with an innumerable number of writhing lines and bands painted in gold and silver metal paints and hued with various tones of oils; and with copper, gold and blue metal blurry spots that resemble veins of a leaf.
The box's interior as well as its exterior is covered dark green oils mixed with gold metal powder. The interior is also decorated with the images of leafs painted in silver and gold metal paints, and also with the small frog crafted three-dimensionally and glued to the box's interior bottom.
The box is made out of paper-mache. The lid is hinged from the top of the scene. The work is signed with the name of the artist, and the title on the square piece of mother-of-pearl glued to the lid's interior.
