Inessa Kombarova of Fedoskino is the artist who painted this box entitled "Butterfly". Kombarova has received much acclaim over the years for her work. Her original works have appeared in many books on lacquer art.
The box shows the bright butterfly painted against the black background. The plants located in the background are painted in gold paints. This shining gold plants are detailed with gold metal foil in some places. The artist continues to paint gold plants on the box's sides. Silver metal leaf is used to create each lustrous spot located in the middle of each wing.
The box is made out of paper-mache. Black lacquer covers the exterior and dark red lacquer covers the interior of the box. The lid is hinged from the top of the composition and the box rests on a small platform. Signed with the name of the artist, the village of Fedoskino and the title on the box's exterior bottom.
