Shishkina A. from the village of Fedoskino created this attractive box. It features the Snowmaiden strolling in the winter forest and speaking with birds.
Here the artist has splendidly managed to reproduce the treatment of light and shade creating the beautiful visual effect of sunlight struggling through the dense forest. The palette incorporates blue and white oils as the action takes place in winter. Mother-of-pearl and silver metal powder shine through the Snowmaiden's costume enlivening rather monotonous palette of the scene.
The scene is framed with a gold line; two parallel gold lines decorate the box's sides.
The box is made out of paper-mache. Black lacquer covers the exterior and red lacquer covers the interior of the box. The box has a hinge from the left of the scene, and rests on four legs. Signed with the name of the artist, Fedoskino, and the year of 2005.
