Roman Tyuvaev created this splendid, bright box. Its whole surface is covered with colorful painting, including its interior.
The lid features the mermaid riding the dolphin, while on the box's exterior bottom the artist has drawn two fish swimming among water plants, and on the interior bottom of the box he has painted the snail.
While painting the box's exterior, Tyuvaev mixed turquoise oils with silver metal powder to make the box look bright and festive. More splendor comes from two pieces of mother-of-pearl set into the dolphin's body, and into the area behind the mermaid's head. Gold metal paint details the mermaid's costume, the dolphin's harness, and also highlights the fish scale.
The red lacquered interior of the box is covered with turquoise blurry spots; the edges of the lid's interior as well as the edges of the box's exterior bottom are adorned with wide gold bands.
The scene painted on the lid is framed with silver scan patterns composed of tiny shapes hand punched from silver metal sheets and then painstakingly affixed by hand to the box. On the lid's left side the small oval pearl is glued.
The box is constructed from paper-mache. A hinge is fastened to the left of the scene, and the box rests on a flat bottom. Signed with the artist's name, and the year of 2007.
