This realistically painted winter scene is a creation of E. Shishkin. The bright sunset floods the snow covered expanses with its golden glow. The sunrays become warmer and warmer, and the ice on the river starts melting. The spring is forthcoming!
The scene is painted in various shades of blue oils. The snow and the sky in some places shine with silver powder. Gold paint creates the glow of the sunset and its reflection on the water. Almost invisible gold dust is spread throughout the scene to animate and decorate it.
The box's sides are decorated with two parallel gold lines.
The box is constructed from paper-mache. Black lacquer is used to paint the exterior of the box while red lacquer completes the interior of the work. The lid is hinged, and the box rests on a flat bottom. Signed with the artist's name, the year of 2006 and the village of Fedoskino.
