Very often Marina Khasanova invents the subjects for her works by herself. She has created a series of works that shows a wonderful fairy-tale world inhabited by dwarfs and children. This is one more box from this series (on our website you can find another work from this series; it is called ‘Magic Bubbles').
The work is called “Nuisance”, and shows the dwarf who has hurt his leg. Another two dwarfs and the little girl are anxious about his physical condition. They feel sorry for him.
To paint this humorous scene, the artist has used a wide range of colors. Mother-of-pearl is set into the girl's skirt, and shines brightly. The box's exterior imitates the coloring of a stone (the black lacquered surface of the box's exterior is covered light and dark blue blurry spots highlighted with silver powder. The interior is traditionally red. On the front and the rear sides of the box the artist has painted a vine in green oils.
The box is made out of paper-mache. The box has a hinge above the scene, and rests on legs. The artist signed her name, the title (“Nuisance”), the village of Fedoskino and the year of 2005 of which the piece was finished at the bottom of the scene.
