Description: This rural landscape was painted by well-known Fedoskino artist Yuriy Dubovikov, who past us away in 2005.
The scene is idyllic and peaceful; it shows cows pasturing on a meadow covered with dry, yellow and partly green grass. It's a warm autumn day. The foliage of trees is multicolored. Some of them are green, the others are yellow.
The scene is painted against the bright background which tone beautifully with the golden landscape. The colors are rich and warm, suggesting the middle of the autumn, just before the leaves start to fall on the cold ground. There is a good sense of depth and dimensionality in this work, especially in the trees located in the foreground. The cows are also naturally painted. Aluminum and golden powder is used to enhance the golden tones of the meadow.
There is a piece of mother-of-pearl in the middle of the composition, right in the skies.<
Two village shepherds are sitting on a grass in front of a camp-fire, watching for the cows., possibly backing traditional potatoes for dinner on live coals.
The box is constructed with the original shape. The sides are decorated with 2 golden lines. Black lacquer is used to paint the exterior of the box while red lacquer completes the interior of the work. The box has a hinge from the top of the composition and rests on four legs. The box is signed with the artist's name and village on the interior of the lid.
