Inessa Kombarova of Fedoskino is the artist who painted this box .
Inessa graduated from Fedoskino Art School in 1980.Her teachers were such well-known artists as Frolov and Kulgachev. After graduation from Fedoskino Art School she became an active participant of several Lacquer Art exhibits.
Kombarova has several awards from the Expos, her artistry was mentioned in articles of different magazines ("Smena","Soviet Union" and etc.).
Her original works has appeared in several books on Lacquer Art. One of her boxes named "An Apprentice" is displayed on page 112 of Book “Lacquer Miniatures. Fedoskino” written by N.Krestovskaya.
This box shows the yellow butterfly painted against the black background. The plants located in the background are painted in gold paints. This shining gold plants are detailed with gold metal foil in some places. The artist continues to paint gold plants on the box's sides. Gold metal leaf is used to create each lustrous spot located in the middle of each wing.
The box is made out of paper-mache. Black lacquer covers the exterior and dark red lacquer covers the interior of the box. The lid is hinged from the top of the composition and the box rests on a flat bottom. The box is signed with the name of the artist, the village of Fedoskino and the title on the bottom of the composition.
