Talented Fedoskino artist Shishkin painted this beautiful winter landscape.
The scene is painted in various shades of blue oils. The snow and the sky in some places shines with silver powder. Gold paint creates the glow of the sunset and its reflection on the water. Almost invisible gold dust is spread throughout the scene to animate and decorate it. Golden sunset is coming through the branches of old Oak trees, which also partly covered with a snow. A lonely haystack located almost under one of the Oaks, is covered with snow. For some reasons peasants still didn't transfer this haystack into a barn.
The small village is located nearby. On a background of composition we can see the highest building of every village--a Church. The rest of the houses are lost somewhere on the bank of the same river…
The box is constructed from paper-mache. Black lacquer is used to paint the exterior of the box while red lacquer completes the interior of the work. The lid is hinged at the top of the composition , and the box rests on for small legs. Signed with the artist's name, the year of 2007 and the village of Fedoskino.
