This romantic work by Yelena Aldoshkina of Fedoskino shows a young couple enjoying a beautiful summer day. The sky is of deep blue color, the trees are covered with green fresh foliage, the flock of swallows hover in the sky and a pleasant aroma comes from sunny meadows.
The box has an original shape of a hemisphere that helps the artist to expand the panorama of a picturesque summer landscape on the whole surface of the box. The bright green and blue oils reproduce the atmosphere of a bright afternoon. Gold paint highlights the trees but in very minimal amounts. The two characters have the large, sentimental eyes, rosy cheeks and delicate little mouths that one often associates with traditional Fedoskino art. All the details are finely drawn.
The bottom part of the box's body is decorated with the attractive pattern that consists of green and orange triangles painted against the bright golden background of a wide gold ribbon. The interior is traditionally red. The exterior bottom is covered with dark blue paint and shimmering gold dust.
The box is constructed from quality paper-mache. The lid is hinged from the top of the scene, and the box rests on a flat bottom. The work is signed with the artist's name, Fedoskino, the title (“The Loving Couple”), and the year of 2007.
