Description:

This enchanting box has been painted by the talented and famous artistic duet of Sergey Kozlov and Alexander Kozlov. Here they depict a quiet winter evening in the village of Fedoskino. Painted with a great care and lyricism, this scene reflects sincere love of artists to their native land.
The composition is based on color contrast between the blue-grey area where the wooden peasant houses, the snowy expanses and the sky are depicted, and the bright white-golden spot that centers on the village church and sparkles dramatically with a gold metal leaf inlay. Silver metal paint creates the luster of snow and highlights the clouds in the sky.
The box's exterior is decorated with a gorgeous gold and silver skan pattern composed of tiny gold and silver shapes punched from gold and silver metal sheets and then painstakingly affixed by hand to the box.
The box is constructed from paper-mache. Black lacquer is used to paint the exterior of the box while red lacquer completes the interior of the work. The lid is hinged from the left of the scene, and the box rests on a flat bottom. The work is signed with the names of the artists, Fedoskino and the year of 2002.
