Vetrova from the village of Fedoskino created a series of works called “Seasons”, and this enchanting box continues this series. It shows the beautiful lady holding an apple that represents the allegory of autumn.
The scene is painted in bright oils over silver paint that strengthens the colors and enriches the palette. Sparkling gold paint is used to highlight the lady's hair, to detail her costume and to paint the leaves falling down from the tree painted in the background. A piece of mother-of-pearl is set into the background while another piece of mother-of-pearl shines through the lady's costume.
A nice gold pattern composed of two crossing bands frames the scene. The box's exterior imitates the coloring of a stone (light green blurry spots are scattered against the dark blue background that shines almost invisibly with silver dust). The tree covered with orange foliage is painted on the box's exterior bottom. The box's sides are decorated with silver scan patterns. The box's interior is traditionally red, but the interior borders are outlined with gold.
. The box is constructed out of paper-mache. The lid is hinged from the left of the scene, and the box rests on a flat bottom. The work is signed with the artist's name, Fedoskino, and the year of 2007. A beautiful and bewitching piece.
